Program Description

FAMIS MOMS is Virginia’s health insurance program for uninsured pregnant women. This program provides access to quality health services for pregnant women. FAMIS covers all the medical services a pregnant woman needs to avoid getting sick and to ensure the best start for her baby. Services covered by FAMIS MOMS include all the FAMIS services appropriate to the pregnant woman’s age, plus prenatal and delivery services such as doctor visits, hospital visits, prescription medicine, tests and emergency care. There are no enrollment costs or monthly premiums for FAMIS. When you get care there may be a small fee called a co-pay for some services. Most co-payments are just $2 or $5 – FAMIS MOMS covers the rest.
