Program Description
Through Mississippi Health Benefits, there are two health coverage options for children: the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid. CHIP is a free/low cost private health plan for children in families meeting family size/income requirements. This program covers eligible children to their 19th birthday. Families are urged to apply to see if their children are eligible for either the CHIP or the Medicaid program.
Program Requirements
In order to qualify for Mississippi CHIP, you must be a resident of Mississippi, under 19 years of age, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), and a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident.
In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

Application Process
To apply for Medicaid or CHIP for children or to apply as a pregnant woman or low income parent or caretaker, please complete and submit the PDF application online.
You may also request a paper application by calling 1-800-421-2408. You may bring or mail in the completed application to the Regional Medicaid Office serving your county of residence. Completed applications can also be faxed to 601-576-4164 or scanned and emailed to application@medicaid.ms.gov
To file an application as an aged, blind or disabled individual, download the application on the Medicaid website for aged, blind or disabled individuals.
