Program Description
The Delaware Healthy Children Program (DHCP) is a low cost health insurance program for Delaware’s uninsured children. If your child is found eligible for DHCP, you will pay $15 or $25 monthly depending on your income. The single monthly premium covers all the eligible children in your family. You must pay the monthly premium in order for the coverage to become effective. For every three months you pay in advance you get the fourth month of coverage free.
DHCP covers: doctor visits including check-ups, prescription drugs, eye exams and glasses, dental care, routine shots, tests and x-rays, speech/hearing therapy, hospital stays, specialist visits, chiropractic services, mental health counseling, treatment for drug and alcohol abuse.
Program Requirements
In order to be eligible for DHCP, your child must be a resident of the state of Delaware, must not have comprehensive health insurance, must be under the age of 19, be a US citizen or qualified noncitizen, cannot be a dependent of a state of Delaware employee and must meet the income limits based on household size.
