Program Description

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) assists low-income Nevadans with their home energy needs by providing qualified households with an annual benefit credited to their utility account. The benefit amount varies based on household size, income, and energy usage.

Households may receive assistance with rearranges (pass due bills) when funding is available. Arrearages assistance is limited to once in a lifetime.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program your household must meet the minimum requirements below:

  • Citizenship;
  • Nevada Residency;
  • Pay a utility company, fuel supplier, or landlord for heating/cooling their home; and
  • Gross monthly household income must be below 150% of Poverty

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

1 $18,210
2 $24,690
3 $31,170
4 $37,650
5 $44,130
6 $50,610
7 $57,090
8 $63,570

*For households with more than eight people, add $6,480 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.
