Program Description
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is operated through local health departments, satellite and mobile clinics in Virginia. The Virginia WIC Program serves low-income pregnant, lactating and postpartum women and children up to age five.
Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of Virginia; a pregnant, breastfeeding and/or postpartum woman; an infant or child up to 5 years of age; and individually determined by a health professional to be at nutrition risk.
In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

A person who participates or has family members who participate in certain other benefit programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), automatically meets the income eligibility requirement.
