Program Description
The Food Supplement Program (FSP) is a program that enables low-income households to purchase the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels. Food benefits are issued through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system. When benefits are approved, the benefits are posted to the client’s account by 6:00 a.m. the next morning. Monthly benefits are posted to accounts by 6:00 a.m. alphabetically over fifteen calendar days starting with the 2nd calendar day of each month. The staggered issuance allows more grocers to restock their shelves with nutritious fresh foods and help improve customer service for all shoppers. A food benefit household is defined as a group of people who purchase and prepare food together. Spouses and children under the age of 22 who live together must be included in the same food benefit household. You must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible alien to get food benefits.
