Description

Program Description

Idaho offers the Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) so your children—infants to teens—may qualify for health insurance at no cost to you. SCHIP provides insurance to working and non-working families. It allows you-parents, grandparents, and guardians-to get the health insurance coverage your children need and deserve.

Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program a child must be a resident of Idaho, under 19 years of age, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), and a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

Household Size* Maximum Income Level (Per Year)
1 $22,459
2 $30,451
3 $38,443
4 $46,435
5 $54,427
6 $62,419
7 $70,411
8 $78,403

*For households with more than eight people, add $7,992 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.

Depending on your income level, you may have to pay a premium for coverage. Please see this state’s website for details.
