Program Description
The Indian Health Service (IHS) Urban Indian Health Program supports contracts and grants that fund outreach and referral, case management, comprehensive primary care, limited primary care, dental, community health, substance abuse (outpatient and inpatient services), behavioral health, immunizations, HIV activities, health promotion and disease prevention, and other health programs, through other state, Federal, and local resources.
Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be Native American/American Indian and you or a family member must be enrolled in a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native village.
Application Process
To receive benefits through this program, you must check with the tribe in whose service area you reside or go to the patient registration office of the local IHS facility in person and present proof of your enrollment as a member of a federally recognized tribe.
