Program Description
Children’s Bureau (CB) provides funding to states and tribes to provide safe foster care placements for children and youth who cannot remain in their homes. Our funding also provides optional guardianship assistance for states, as well as assistance to youth aging out of foster care so that they can achieve self-sufficiency. The Foster Care program provides Federal financial assistance to states to assist with:
1) Costs of foster care maintenance for eligible children
2) Administrative costs to manage the program
3) Training for staff, foster parents and private agency staff
The implementation of the program may differ by state.
