Program Description
The Financial Assistance for Needy Families Program (FANF) provides cash assistance to families with dependent children through either the Family Assistance Program (FAP), the New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP), the Unemployed Parent program, or the Interim Disabled Parent program. To qualify, the dependent children must lack parental support or care due to death, continued absence or because one or both parents in a two-parent home are disabled, unemployed or working less than 100 hours a month.
Parents of families eligible for FANF cash assistance are also eligible for Medicaid; children of FANF eligible families are eligible for Healthy Kids Gold medical coverage. Families eligible for FANF who do not live in government subsidized housing are also eligible for Emergency Assistance that can help them get and keep safe and secure housing.
