Program Description
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) was mandated by Congress to develop a distinct loan repayment program to increase the pool of extramural researchers who conduct minority health disparities and other health disparities research.

- The NIMHD Extramural Loan Repayment Program for Health Disparities Research supports the recruitment and retention of highly qualified health professionals to research careers that focus on addressing minority health disparities and/or other health disparities; and
- The NIMHD Extramural Clinical Research Loan Repayment Program for Clinical Researchers from Disadvantaged Backgrounds supports the recruitment and retention of highly qualified health professionals from disadvantaged backgrounds as research investigators to careers in clinical research.
